Arts Committee
The mission of the Arts Committee is to foster opportunities for our kids to engage in the arts. The committee is comprised of parents and teachers working closely together to support current arts and general ed curriculum, and provide opportunities for growth, bridging visual art, music, dance, and theatre with language arts, mathematics, social studies, technology and science.
Great stuff coming up this year with arts enrichment, and we hope you'll join us for the first Arts Committee meeting:
Wednesday, October 6
4:30pm at 516 Court St
(between Nelson & Huntington the storefront is called Ruby's 347-275-0770)
One particularly exciting developments to mention:
After years of steady effort, the school now has its own kiln! Many teachers from BNS and BCS have incorporated ceramic projects into their curriculum for a long time; in fact, several teachers and parents in the school are experienced clay artists. But we've always had to go out of the building to fire the work, which proved laborious, costly, and very limiting. With this brand-new, sophisticated kiln on-site, the world is our (glazed) oyster!
There are plenty of other groovy initiatives underway, as well... come to the Arts Committee meeting to learn more about them, and to share your interests, questions and ideas.
Hope to see you there!
