Brooklyn New School PTA Fundraising

One of the most important functions of the Brooklyn New School PTA is the creation and execution of fundraising events, as well as community building activities that support our children & our school.

Here is a list of fundraising and community building activities. There are so many opportunities to help and become an active member of the BNS community.

 

BNS Annual Appeal

This campaign asks for direct financial support from families, staff and our extended community family. This effort is organized by our 501c3 Friends of BNS-BCS. The goal for 2011-2012 is to raise over $100,000. Contributions are earmarked to supplement our non-existent supply budget, allocated by the city, and for other needs as designated by the school administration and the PTA.  Please make sure to indicate which fund (listed below) you would like to give to at the bottom of the NY Charities form.

  • One-Time Donation
    No contribution is too small! Please donate now! You can donate online with a debit or credit card, through NYCharities.org. You can also send a check or money order made payable to Friends of BNS-BCS. (These checks should be brought to the school directly and left in the Friends of BNS-BCS mailbox in the Main Office, Room 206) [Note: Please write "BNS" in the field "Designate your donation to a specific program or fund" so that we can ensure that the money goes to meet the needs of for our school.]
     
  • Monthly Giving Campaign
    Make monthly donations which will be charged automatically to your credit or debit card, through NYCharities.org. [Note: Please write "BNS" in the field "Designate your donation to a specific program or fund."]

Step 2: Select "Donate Now" button
Step 3: Enter credit/debit card payment information

Important Notice: Please designate BNS in the donation, as well as what it is for, e.g. BNS Annual Appeal, BNS EDDS purchase, etc.

We are working with NYC Charities to improve the giving page so that in the future donors will have the option of choosing BNS, BCS, or both schools.  This work should be completed by February, 2012.  Until then, use the designation box to provide this information.  Thanks. 

 

Apple Fest (October 22)

Community building and fundraising right in our own backyard. Invite your friends, spend the day, and help BNS and BCS have a great year. This year, we featured pony rides, games, food, a flea market and more. 

 

Spring Fling (May 2012)

We want this to be a very special event again this year. We need parents to step up to create strong committees and subcommittees to begin the hard work necessary to create a successful event.  These organizers will be responsible for planning the sale of food and drink, selecting the entertainment and decorations, creating and mailing invitations, banking, setting up and breaking down, and other duties on the big night.  We also need parents to donate auction items.  We encourage you to volunteer to help with a committee or in-kind donation as we get going.

Corporate Matching Grants Programs

Did you know there was an easy and painless way to bring thousands of additional dollars to BNS to support our school! BNS is already working with The Gap and Verizon to match employee donations, dollar for dollar. Perhaps your company can do the same?

If you work for a company that has a matching gift program, your cash donation may be eligible to be matched by your employer.
Most large corporations encourage charitable giving and are willing to match, dollar for dollar, the amount of money that you donate to the Brooklyn New School through the Friends of BNS-BCS. Some employers will even match employee contributions to a greater degree.

Please consult the human resources department of your corporation for more information.
