Please fill out the paper application available at school in the main office or at an Open House.

Our 2012 - 2013 application is not available online at this time. If you filled out the online application in Nov. or Dec., we have you in the data base and you do not have to fill out a paper application.

 

We encourage all parents to come to a BNS Open House before they apply.

  • Open Houses are for all grades, Pre-K - 5, and include a tour of the school. These events are geared towards parents.
  • Open Houses begin in the Auditorium and last one and a half hours. Parents DO NOT need to register or sign up for an Open House.

 

Information on Pre-K admissions:

BNS Pre-K students are placed by the DOE. The DOE recognizes sibling preference for students in K - 4th grade. Pre-K applications will be available in March 2012 for September 2012 admissions. Pre-K applicants can get on a BNS wait list in September 2012. Currently, the DOE does not have information available yet on its website about Sept. 2012 pre-K admissions.

 

Children in grades K - 5 are admitted by BNS lottery.  There is a separate lottery for each grade and a wait list for each grade.

  • Parents should fill out a BNS application on paper to be included in the lottery.
  • The application will be available starting November 10, 2011, in the main office, room 206, from 8 am - 3 pm. No additional material is necessary for the application.
  • The lottery deadline is March 16, 2012. Applications received after the deadline will go to the wait list.

 

If your child has an IEP or if your child might have an IEP for September 2012:

  • Come to an Open House. All open houses include a tour of special education classes.
  • Speak with us about your child's needs when you visit.
  • Children with IEPs for ICT or 12:1 or 12:1:1 are placed at BNS by the D15 Committee on Special Education Placement Office, but please fill out a BNS application so we know about your child. For more information, visit the DOE website here.

 

 

If you applied for the current school year, you must fill out a new application for the 2012 - 2013 school year.

BNS recognizes sibling preference for our own students and students of the Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies, our sister secondary school.
