The Brooklyn New School is committed to academic and personal success for all students. We believe that children are creators of meaning. They are naturally thoughtful and curious, and they work to gain understanding of the world they inhabit. When the adults who care for children foster this effort, children become life-long learners.

Curriculum Night is the single most important event of the year for parents. If you only come to one event this year, it should be Curriculum Night. Parents will meet their teacher (or, in the upper grades, their grade level teams) to hear about expectations for this school year.

Pre-K will have Curriculum Night on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6 pm in their classrooms.

Please make childcare arrangements for this evening. There is no childcare for these events.

New families in grades K - 5 should join us for Orientation on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 9 am or 11 am (to allow for K phase in).

All families should have received a September Conference schedule in their summer packets. These 10-minute meetings are designed to introduce parents and teachers in the first days of the school year. Teachers will guide the conversation with open-ended questions to get to know the important stories of each child's development and life experiences. To find out when your conference is, email Amy at amysumner@bns146.org.
